The history of nude

Nude is one of the genres of fine art that is dedicated to the image of the naked body, in the majority of cases of women's body. It is connected with the image of a human's body and with representing it as absolute beauty of the period and the nation.

Particular attention to nude genre appeared in the period of Renaissance when artists paid particular attention to mythology and ancient genres of arts. In Ancient World nude style was considered to be the reflection of beauty. Artists showed the naked body in sculptures, in pictures and even in literature.

Ancient World gives us a great variety of erotic plots and images that were not considered to be vulgar but beautiful and natural. Every woman was considered to have some spice.

During Renaissance the human body was embodiment of ideal qualities of Italian humanists in the woman's body and very often were associated with philosophy and poetry, especially lyrics.

The development of nude style takes place in the 17th century with the spread of idealism. A naked body becomes the reflection of sensuality.

Rubens, Rembrante, Velaskes are artist who created artworks in this style. It becomes especially popular in the 18th century. French rococo makes it the usual genre for arts. Gracefulness, sophistication, coquettish qualities are the most characteristic for artworks in this style. In the first half of the 19th century the traditional views on beauty become popular and nude genre becomes more restricted again.

Erotic plots were very popular. The images of naked muses, nymphs, goddesses, etc become popular in art.

But it became famous only with the development of photography. We may see it not only on specialized exhibitions but also in the internet. A lot of artists chose this genre becoming prisoners of the beauty of the woman's body.

Nude is still in the process of its development. New nude photos appear and become famous; the recent trends are the preferences of black and white colours, nude photos of pregnant women, men have become usual models for nude style too.

The first nude photos were made just after the invention of the camera. And after abilities of the camera became wider artists received the ability to make pictures of good quality. The first erotic pictures are not conserved till nowadays. It is known that they had the images of uninteresting and standard situations of life.

The first public erotic card was edited in Great Britain in 1870.

Photography has a good perspective for development. And such genre as nude photos is so popular and spread that people even are not ashamed to turn them into the details of interior.
